| I have nothing bad to say about this product. Easy to set up and use. A little noisy at first, but it's expected, and passed after just a few minutes. My cats are deathly afraid of any and everything. At first they wouldn't go near it, but I tricked them with a couple of treats close the the base and as they were nibbling, they quickly went in for a little lick. Now, every time I turn around, one of them has their face in it. I have it set on setting #2, and besides the flow being perfect, the motor is virtually silent. I'm so impressed with how cool and refreshing the water is, I have to resist sticking my own face in it. I've recommended it to all my friends with small animals and even purchased a few extra to give as gifts. |

| I was unsure how my new kitten would like to drink from a "fountain", the first week I had it he would just look at it, eventually as he got a little older he started experimenting with the water (dipping his paw in ocassionally). Well he started to drink from it (both at the base and top of the waterfall) and he loves it now!!! I would NEVER go back to unfiltered, stale and stagnent water. Every cat and dog should have one of these WONDERFUL devices. I think that this is the best model because it has both a charcoal filter and a water pressure gauge. The sleek black and stainless steel goes great with a stainless steel food dish. Plus you have the satisfaction that your animal is getting clean, fresh water on a daily basis, what more could a pet owner want! I highly reccomend that you buy this product, I would even suggest getting one as a gift for a friend that is a pet owner! Everyone should own one! Enjoy! |
My 7 Cats Love It!

At first, the older cats were a tad suspicious of the new gadget... but the younger ones took to the Petmate Fountain right away. For a week or two, I left out a couple of the water dishes I used to use, until everyone adjusted to the new fountain.
Now, all the cats drink from it happily. They love the fresh water, and are now drinking more water than they did before. I did elevate the fountain a bit, so that they do not have to crouch down to drink. Most prefer to drink the water at the top.
I just have to change the filter once a month, wash out the appliance once a week, and rinse the filter once a week. Most of my cats are long-haired, and the filter that is on the pump has adequately trapped the fur.
At first the maintenance seems awkward, but once you've done it, it's very easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble.
So far, I am pleased with this fountain. I plan to purchase more of this particular model in the future. |
Phoenix's waterfountain

| We have four cats -- Scat, Togo, Phoenix, and Lenny. Phoenix and Lenny, the youngest and more technology-savvy of the crew, LUUVVE their new cat fountain. Scat and Togo are still suspicious of it. We got it because Phoenix has always loved running water, and usually stuck her paws in the water bowls to stir it up before drinking, thus getting their water dirty. We figured she'd appreciate the constantly running water, and we were correct -- she and Lenny do love it. WE love the black and steel design, which goes with our master bedroom, and how quietly it runs. And we don't mind filling it up every day (it could use a bigger reservoir but we chose the medium-sized one, which is fine for four cats). |
Great drinking fountain for one cat - updated 6/22/2010

Even though we gave him fresh water every day in his stainless steel dish, our cat used to get into our kitchen sink to drink all the time. I bought this product over a month ago based on the reviews on Amazon. Well, he loves it and he no longer gets into the sink except occasionally when he wants to check out what we are playing with in the sink. :-) He also seems to be drinking a lot more now - each refill only lasts two to three days.
The drinking fountain is very quiet when the pump is set on low - that is really all one needs. Perhaps because our cat doesn't play with the water, we haven't had problems with the pump getting plugged up. However, I can see how it could happen since there is no filter on the intake side of the pump. Still, even if it does happen, I'll simply rig up something with coffee filter paper. No sweat! Great buy! And Waffy (our cat) would agree. :-)
Update 6/22/2010
Since I wrote the review, we have added two more cats. All three of them have been using the drinking fountain for 1.5 years now. They all love it. About every two months the fountain would hum like a fish-tank pump, telling us that the pump needs cleaning. No sweat. We just take it out and remove a clump of cat hair. Then it is quiet again. The only slightly tricky part here is removing the black plastic cover because it is tight on the smaller end. We use a small screwdriver to help - insert and turn - and it comes off easily. |
