Well worth the money

I first bought the Nite-Ize LED Upgrade for D cell maglites, but it hardly puts out any light. It's pretty dim but will literally run for a week at that same dimness, it has it's purpose and was half the cost of this. It is useful for maneuvering around a dark house (like a nitelite), but you can't really "see" anything well enough to do work.
I finally forked over the money this 3 Watt LED upgrade at Mega-Lo-Mart and boy am I impressed. According to flashlightreviews website it's brighter than the stock bulb and will maintain that brightness for 48 hours! I have to agree, my batteries were at about 50% (judging by the dim beam of the conventional bulb) i put the LED in and my maglite has never been brighter, and the beam is still focusable, I even think the beam geometry is better with the LED than the stock bulb. I'm totally impressed. Hopefully it will pay for itself in batteries.
I've found specs that claim this throws 7500 (86.60) LUX and has an overall outputs of 4750 (47.50) LUMENS. (whatever that means) |
A Nice Upgade for an Old MagLite

I purchased this upgrade from Amazon for an old MagLite that was getting "long in the tooth". The two cell flashlight wasn't very bright and I was about ready to toss it and buy a new LED flashlight(until I saw how expensive they were!). I wasn't aware that I could upgrade my old MagLite until I saw the LED upgrade item available at Amazon.
I was a little disappointed when I received the upgrade, it looked just like the tiny old bulb in the flashlight that I was replacing. Well anyway, it took about a minute to unscrew the flashlight and replace the old bulb and reassamble with the upgrade bulb. I never bothered changing the old batteries. When I turned the flashlight on I was amazed...a blinding blue-white light was the result. I could hardly beieive it! I strongly recommend this upgrade for your old MagLite. The mechanical build quality of MagLite flashlights is superb, now the light beam matches it. Highly Recommended, |
Better Brighter Light

| This 3 Watt LED really transformed my 2D cell Mag light! The old bulb caused a shadow effect, and had yellowish hue. This 3 watt LED improved an already excellent designed flashlight. The 3 Watt LED is bright, and easy to focus to a solid spotlight, to a smooth transition flood / area light. Highly recommended. |
This is a Win-Win-Win

I have two "2D" Maglites that I've had for years, one I upgraded with a Xenon bulb. The LED upgrade is brighter than the Xenon bulb and much brightr than the standard bulb - add to that a VERY long bulb life and about 22 hours of runtime on two alkalines and you have a very useful and reliable light.

Brilliant

This maglite upgrade module throws a brilliant white beam and appears brighter than the original incandescent bulb.
The batteries of your 2 cell C or D maglite will last more than four times longer than with the original lamp. The beam is still focusable via the rotating maglite head as before.
This module will likely outlast your flashlight as it is rated for 50,000 hours of continuous use. It will not easily break with shock like a fragile glass bulb.
To sum it all up; greater reliability, more light, longer battery life.
