Two cool LEDs in the handle provide steady, even light that doesn't overwhelm. View larger. | Light pipe technology illuminates the text on the page you're reading--instead of the book as a whole. View larger. | Light Just Where You Need It Overhead lights illuminate too broad an area, often shedding light on your neighbor and not on your book. But the LightWedge Original Book Light features a tapered, optical-grade acrylic lens that lays flat on the page to direct all of the light where it's needed most. LightWedge uses light pipe technology to illuminate the page you're reading--instead of the book as a whole--maximizing both the LightWedge's effect and your ability to read easily in dark places. The optional PageRest holds the LightWedge on most hardback and trade paperback books, so you can focus better on the story. Your companion remains undisturbed, and you get a better reading experience. Easy on the Eyes Clip-on book lights are sometimes harsh and can tire out the eyes, whereas overhead lights can be too dim and can cause eye strain. The LightWedge Original Book Light uses two cool LEDs housed in the handle to provide steady, even light that doesn't overwhelm. Additionally, the LightWedge allows your eyes to adjust comfortably thanks to two brightness settings for low-light and no-light situations. Perfect for Travel The LightWedge Original Book Light is perfectly sized for hardcover books and large paperbacks, and it's easy to slip in your carry-on along with your reading materials. Measuring 6-3/4 by 9-1/4 inches and weighing only 8-1/2 ounces with batteries, the LightWedge won't weigh you down or be too heavy to hold. Just four AAA batteries (not included) will give you up to 40 hours of light, so you can enjoy your stories for many trips to come. LightWedge Guarantee LightWedge book lights use white LEDs, which are guaranteed for the life of the product. All other parts are guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase. BEST for reading at night, no question about it!

THis lightwedge is fantastic. It provides a great source of light that is focused on your book, not on the person next to you. The light comes from the black handle, but because of the "wedge" shape of the glass, it is focused down the glass and onto your book. You can even take that focused beam and use it as an impromtu flashlight.
This thing uses hardly any batteries at all, unlike the other popular reading lights. I very rarely have to change the batteries and I use this all the time, for hours every night! I've even fallen asleep with it on overnight, with no noticable decrease in battery life. Because the battery life is so good, I've even let my son read in bed for awhile and then just set it down and use it as a nightlight for the rest of the night.
It is true that if you're like I am (rough with it) it will get scratches on the lens. Not a big deal though, when it's on the book, you won't notice the scraches. Much like small scratches on eyeglasses.
I like the larger size because you can use that with large books or with paperbacks with equal ease. The paperback one doesn't work as well with the hardcover books, but it's okay.
The lightwedge also doubles as a bookmark when not in use!
You won't be disappointed if you buy this. I wasn't. I'm actually buying two more for friends as Christmas gifts! |
I have not found ANYTHING better than this...

I have tried itty bitty's, fancy space lights, and lights mounted to the headboard of my bed. This is by FAR the best book light I have found. It is a little cumbersome for small paperbacks but they have one for that too (maybe I will buy one one day). I take it on planes and it conveniently stays put in the book while in my bag. By the way...if you are like me and dont read directions, this goes ON TOP of the page.

Great for partner who reads at night

| I bought this item (original black) as a gift for my husband who likes to read at night in bed. I prefer to go right to sleep and hate having light in my eyes. This emits a soft enough glow that it doesn't disturb me yet it's bright enough for my husband to read. I have to be careful with it around my son who loves to grab it off the bedside table, because it isn't toddler proof . . . not that it is meant to be. It's a great solution for couples where one likes to sleep while the other reads. In fact, I got one for my father because my mother complained about his nighttime reading. So far, they are both happy with this item. |

| I saw this product on a talk show and it looked like the answer to my reading at night problem - I have to get out of bed to turn off the light! When I received the LightWedge, I tried it out that night...what a wonderful product! The light it gives is plenty enough to see the pages and it doesn't disturb my partner who is trying to sleep! It is lightweight as well and the bookrest that comes with it is a great help too! I liked it so much, I bought the paperback model too! |
