| This single-slot digital toaster from KitchenAid not only toasts most widths of bread to perfection but also warms pastries, gets bagels just right, and handles frozen items intelligently. A simple user-friendly display governs all these functions, with a dial for browning preference and three buttons for the "warm," "frozen," and "bagel" options. The "warm" function heats without toasting, while the "frozen" function gently thaws, then toasts. The "bagel" function toasts the cut side 100 percent and the crust 50 percent. Each function includes an indicator light, and the digital display shows the selected browning level. If you toast several servings in a row, KitchenAid's Even Heat system adjusts cooking time to ensure consistent results. Structurally, the toaster is sound and accommodating, holding two slices at a time. The toasting rack automatically centers bread between the elements, and the Soft Rise feature raises finished toast high for easy removal. The toaster also features heavy-duty heating elements, a full-width dishwasher-safe crumb tray, a stainless-steel interior, and stain-resistant polycarbonate housing. The power cord has an especially tidy feature--it wraps out of sight underneath the toaster for storage or shortening. The unit measures 5-1/4 by 14-1/2 by 8 inches and wipes clean easily with a damp cloth. --Emily Bedard |

I'm sorry for yours, but mine is lovely...

| I felt compelled to write after reading these recent reviews, if only to protect my lovely toaster from such vicious slander. I have found this to be a beautiful and very effective toaster. I splurged for a toaster wide enough to fit bagels and long enough to enjoy sliced baguettes (Semifreddi seeded with cream cheese are my passion). This toaster has worked consistently for the past two years now. Perhaps I'm not the degree of toast connoisseur that some of these people are, but mine browns well, and the above-mentioned features have made it indispensable to me. Most importantly, the glossy red color makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I know, however, that individual responses to color may vary:) |
Great Toaster, Reliable and Consistent!

| First, I have to admit that I read some of the other reviews and was shocked by what I saw. It's what made me decide to write a review in the first place. I've found that this toaster is reliable and consistent. I've never had any problems with it burning anything I've toasted, be it a bagel or a slice of bread. It toasts everything evenly and perfectly, every time. If you've ever bought anything from Kitchen Aid, you'll find that, as with most of their products, it lives up to the name. Is it going to revolutionize cooking? No. It's a toaster. But if you're looking to start off the morning with a good piece of toast, a bagel, or an english muffin - perfectly toasted - then this is the toaster for you. |

| I just had to disagree with some of the other reviewers . Maybe their machines are defective but mine works like a charm . It was a Christmas gift that we use every day . We toast bagels almost every morning , toast bread ( any combination from 1-4) , defrost frozen bread slices and warm bread and buns . We have absolutely no complaints !! We think this toaster is the simply the "cat's meow " . |
We love this toaster!

| We've had this toaster for over a year and my family loves it. It toasts consistently. It accommodates all widths. And the digital selector is great! |
A fine 4-slice toaster
|

After almost 20 years happily using 2 successive Cuisinart 2-slice tandem toasters that have been recently discontinued, we tried this Kitchenaid tandem 4-slice toaster. I don't have to wait until my wife's toast is done to make my own (she said, "Whatever do we need a 4-slice toaster for? There's only 2 of us!" - forgetting that 2 people times 2 slices equals 4 slices).
At first I was disappointed - the toast came up slowly, and incompletely, the toast didn't get dark unless I first pressed the 'frozen' button. I even wrote to the company and said this was a bad design - they immediately sent us a replacement.
But meanwhile, the original toaster improved steadily! We did comparison testing with the replacement toaster when it arrived, and realized that the mechanisms are merely stiff at first, and after a few toastings, the unit works just fine.
The slots are not as long as the Cuisinart, nor quite as wide, but are just fine for our purposes. |
